Sometimes, you don’t need a huge amount of money to start a small business. You just need a little courage, creativity, and the willingness to start with what you have.
I took the last money I had and decided to try something simple: making and selling homemade ice cream.
I bought a small bucket for R40 and plastic bags for around R10–R15. I prepared different portions of colorful, creamy ice cream and packed them individually in small plastic bags.
Then came the exciting part — selling them!
I sell each portion for R3.50, and even though the price seems small, those little sales quickly started adding up. 🍨💰
After selling my ice cream, I was able to make R40 for myself, and that feeling was incredible.
What makes me happiest isn’t just the money. It’s knowing that I took what little I had and turned it into something that could make money.
I started small, but now I can see the potential. ❤️
What I’ve Learned
You don’t always need thousands of rand to start a business. Sometimes, a small idea can be the beginning of something much bigger.
Start with what you can afford.
Sell what people enjoy.
Reinvest some of your profit.
Keep going.
Today it’s a small bucket of ice cream. Tomorrow, who knows? Maybe it could become a real business. 🍦❤️
