Fudgy Brownies

Step 1: Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.

Step 2: Melt the Chocolate

In a heatproof bowl, combine the chopped dark chocolate and butter. Melt them together over a saucepan of simmering water or in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Let cool for 5 minutes.

Step 3: Whisk the Eggs

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract for 2–3 minutes until the mixture becomes pale and slightly thick.

Step 4: Combine the Mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture while whisking continuously until fully incorporated.

Step 5: Add the Dry Ingredients

Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Fold them gently into the chocolate mixture with a spatula until just combined. Do not overmix.

If using, fold in the chocolate chips or chunks.

Step 6: Fill the Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Step 7: Bake

Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached.

Step 8: Cool Completely

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 30–45 minutes before lifting them out and slicing into squares.
