Traditional Garlic Remedy for Hearing Loss: What You Should Know

  • by

Garlic has been used in traditional wellness practices for generations, and many people turn to simple garlic preparations when they are looking for natural ways to support their overall health. One traditional recipe involves blending fresh garlic with clean water and drinking the mixture before meals.

This remedy is sometimes promoted online as a natural treatment for hearing loss. However, it is important to understand that drinking garlic water has not been proven to restore hearing or reverse hearing loss. Hearing problems can have many different causes, including earwax buildup, ear infections, damage to the inner ear, certain medications, aging, or problems affecting the nerves responsible for hearing.

To prepare this traditional drink, use three fresh garlic cloves and approximately one cup, or 240 mL, of clean water. Peel the garlic cloves and blend them thoroughly with the water. The mixture can then be strained to remove larger pieces of garlic.

Because raw garlic can be quite strong and may cause stomach irritation, it is better to start with a small amount if you have never consumed garlic water before. Drinking large quantities does not necessarily provide greater health benefits and may increase the likelihood of digestive discomfort.

The traditional recipe is often described as taking one cup twice daily before meals for several weeks. However, there is no established medical dosage of garlic water for treating hearing loss, and using it for four to six weeks should not be considered a substitute for professional evaluation.
