That was the night I stopped asking myself whether other people thought my babies were beautiful.
I already had my answer.
Yes.
Absolutely.
Completely.
Without hesitation.
And I realized something else.
I didn’t need to defend them.
I didn’t need to argue with strangers.
I didn’t need to convince anyone.
People are entitled to their opinions.
But I am entitled to love my children exactly as they are.
Step 8: What I Hope My Babies Learn
As they grow older, I hope they learn that beauty is much bigger than a face.
A beautiful person can be kind.
A beautiful person can be generous.
A beautiful person can help someone who is struggling.
A beautiful person can make another person feel safe.
A beautiful person can laugh loudly, love deeply, forgive, encourage, and care.
Those are the qualities I want my children to carry into the world.
Not a perfect appearance.
Not everyone’s approval.
But beautiful hearts.
Step 9: To Every Parent Who Has Heard Cruel Words
If someone has ever criticized your child, remember this:
Their opinion does not define your child.
You know your child better than a stranger ever could.
You know the little things that make them special.
You know how hard they’ve worked.
You know their personality.
You know their kindness.
You know the joy they bring into your home.
Don’t allow one careless comment to become the voice inside your head.
Your child deserves to grow up surrounded by love—not constantly measured against someone else’s idea of perfection.
Step 10: So, Are My Babies Beautiful?
Maybe beauty really is in the eye of the beholder.
Maybe someone else will look at my photograph and see something different from what I see.
That’s okay.
Because when I look at these three babies, I don’t see imperfections.
I see my entire heart sitting in my arms.
I see three little miracles.
Three reasons to keep going on difficult days.
Three smiles that can turn the worst morning into a good one.
So if someone asks me:
“Are your babies beautiful?”
My answer will always be the same.
Yes.
Not because everyone has to agree.
Not because strangers need to approve.
But because they are mine.
And because I love them.
And sometimes, a mother’s love is the most beautiful mirror a child can ever have. ❤️
