The gate agent violently crossed out my First Class ticket to please a rich female passenger. “Row 38

“Chad, darling,” Victoria whined, sliding a thick fold of hundred-dollar bills across the counter. “How did an old woman like this even get through security? It’s ruining the atmosphere.”

With a sycophantic laugh, Chad snatched my First Class ticket, violently crossed out Seat 2A, and scribbled a new number. He threw it at my chest.

The silence was deafening. I held her gaze. There was no anger in my eyes—only a terrifying, icy calm. I took a slow breath, but I didn’t scream or cry.
