1. Cook the Noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to the package directions until just al dente.
Don’t overcook them because they will continue cooking in the oven.
2. Prepare the Garlic Butter
While the noodles are cooking, melt the butter in a small saucepan or microwave-safe bowl.
Stir in the minced garlic and let it sit for a minute so the garlic becomes fragrant.
3. Combine the Noodles and Butter
Drain the noodles thoroughly and return them to the warm pot.
Pour the melted garlic butter over the noodles and gently toss until every noodle is coated.
4. Add Parmesan
Add 1 cup of the Parmesan cheese and toss again until the cheese is evenly distributed throughout the noodles.
5. Transfer to the Baking Dish
Lightly grease a 9 × 13-inch baking dish.
Spread the buttered noodles evenly into the dish.
6. Add the Parmesan Topping
Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup Parmesan evenly over the entire surface.
This creates the delicious golden, cheesy crust shown in the picture.
7. Bake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Bake uncovered for approximately 18–22 minutes, until the Parmesan is melted and golden and the edges are beginning to crisp.
For an even more golden top, place the dish under the broiler for 1–2 minutes, watching it closely.
8. Rest and Serve
Remove from the oven and let the noodles rest for about 5 minutes.
Serve hot while the butter is still rich and the Parmesan topping is warm and crispy.
Tip: For the best texture, use freshly grated Parmesan and don’t skip the short broiling step at the end. It gives the top that irresistible golden crust.
