Step 1: The Three Little Miracles
When I found out I was pregnant, I never imagined my life was about to change in a way I could never have prepared for.
Then came the biggest surprise of all.
Three babies.
Three tiny heartbeats.
Three little lives growing inside me.
From the moment the doctors told me I was carrying triplets, I began imagining the future.
Three little beds.
Three little voices calling me Mom.
Three children running through the house together.
I dreamed about their first birthdays, their first days at school, their first friendships.
I imagined them being different from one another.
But I never imagined that one of them would be born with challenges that would make the world see him differently.
Step 2: The Day They Were Born
The day my babies arrived, I was exhausted, frightened, and happier than I had ever been.
One by one, they were brought into the world.
My first baby cried loudly.
My second opened her eyes almost immediately.
And then came the third.
The room became unusually quiet.
A doctor examined the baby carefully before speaking to me.
“There are some things we need to evaluate,” he said gently.
My heart stopped.
“What does that mean?”
He explained that my baby had been born with a condition that could affect development and would likely require additional care and support.
I stared at my child.
For a few seconds, fear was all I could feel.
Then my baby opened those tiny eyes.
And everything changed.
I reached out my arms.
“Give my baby to me.”
The nurse placed the little bundle against my chest.
I kissed that tiny forehead.
“You are mine,” I whispered.
“And nothing about you will ever make me love you less.”
