A simple onion-based drink or infusion can be included in a balanced diet, but the claim that it can shrink an enlarged prostate in 60 seconds is not supported by medical evidence. An enlarged prostate, commonly called benign prostatic hyperplasia, can cause frequent nighttime urination, a weak urine stream, difficulty starting urination, urgency, and the feeling that the bladder has not completely emptied.

Onions are a nutritious kitchen ingredient containing antioxidants and plant compounds that can be part of a healthy eating pattern. They can certainly be used in a simple homemade preparation, but they should not be considered a replacement for medical treatment or a proven way to reduce prostate size.

To make a simple onion infusion, begin with one small onion. Peel it carefully and rinse it under clean running water. Cut the onion into several pieces and place it in approximately two cups of water. Bring the water to a gentle boil and allow the onion to simmer for around 5 to 10 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool. Strain the liquid into a clean cup and, if desired, add a small amount of lemon for flavor.

The onion itself can also be incorporated into everyday meals. Chopped onions work well in vegetable soups, salads, beans, lentils, eggs, grilled vegetables, and many other nutritious dishes. Eating a variety of vegetables provides a broader range of nutrients than relying on a single ingredient.

For men who wake repeatedly during the night to urinate, it can also help to look at evening habits. Drinking very large amounts of fluid immediately before bed may increase nighttime trips to the bathroom. Caffeine and alcohol can also worsen urinary frequency in some people. Maintaining regular physical activity and a healthy weight can support overall health as well.

It is important to remember that prostate enlargement and prostate cancer are not the same condition. Benign prostate enlargement becomes more common with age, while prostate cancer is a separate disease requiring its own evaluation. Urinary symptoms alone cannot determine which condition is responsible.

If urinary problems continue, a healthcare professional can evaluate the symptoms and determine whether further testing is appropriate. Depending on the situation, evaluation may include a medical history, urine testing, a prostate examination, PSA testing, or other investigations. Proven treatments are available when an enlarged prostate causes significant symptoms.

Anyone who suddenly becomes unable to urinate, develops blood in the urine, experiences severe pain, or develops fever with urinary symptoms should seek medical attention promptly.

A homemade onion drink can be a simple addition to a healthy diet, but there is no kitchen drink that can make an enlarged prostate collapse in 60 seconds. Supporting prostate health is a longer-term process involving nutrition, physical activity, appropriate medical evaluation, and treatment when necessary.
