Claims that a glass of milk can “flush damaged kidneys clean” and dramatically lower creatinine within six hours are misleading. Milk is a nutritious food, but it is not a kidney cleanse, and there is no reliable evidence that drinking milk can repair damaged kidneys or rapidly reverse kidney failure.

Creatinine is a waste product that doctors measure in the blood to help assess kidney function. When the kidneys are not filtering properly, creatinine can rise. A sudden increase can sometimes indicate acute kidney injury, which requires medical evaluation rather than a home remedy.

What Does Milk Actually Do?

Milk provides protein, calcium, and other nutrients. 5. Be careful with fluids.
More water or milk is not automatically better. People with advanced kidney disease may actually need to restrict their fluid intake, particularly if they have difficulty removing excess fluid.

6. Get kidney function tested when appropriate.
A blood creatinine test and urine testing can help identify kidney problems. People with diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, or a family history of kidney disease should discuss kidney screening with their healthcare professional.

What If the Kidneys Are Already Failing?

Kidney failure is very different from ordinary dehydration or a mildly elevated creatinine result. A drink cannot substitute for these treatments.
