After age 65, changes in the skin become more noticeable. Fine lines, dryness, uneven texture, and loss of firmness are all common because the skin gradually produces less collagen and natural oils as we get older. Although no homemade face mask can literally erase wrinkles in five days, a simple moisturizing routine can make mature skin look smoother, softer, and more refreshed.
One of the easiest approaches is a gentle honey-based face mask. Honey is naturally moisturizing and can help the skin retain water, which may temporarily reduce the appearance of fine lines caused by dryness. For mature skin, hydration can make a surprisingly visible difference in how the complexion looks and feels.
To make a simple mask, use one teaspoon of plain honey and one teaspoon of plain, unsweetened yogurt. Mix them together until you have a smooth consistency. Apply a thin layer to clean skin, avoiding the eyes and lips. Leave it on for about 10–15 minutes, then rinse gently with lukewarm water. Pat your face dry instead of rubbing it.
Afterward, apply a fragrance-free moisturizer while the skin is still slightly damp. This step is important because moisturizing helps support the skin barrier and can make fine lines appear less noticeable. If your skin is particularly dry, a moisturizer containing ceramides, glycerin, or hyaluronic acid can be a useful addition to an anti-aging skincare routine.
For anyone over 65, consistency is much more important than a dramatic overnight transformation. Using a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every day can do considerably more for the appearance of aging skin than a one-time miracle treatment. Sun protection is especially important because cumulative UV exposure is one of the major contributors to premature skin aging, wrinkles, and uneven pigmentation.
