As women approach and move through their 40s, changes in menstrual cycles, pelvic pressure, abdominal discomfort, and heavier periods can become more common. These symptoms are sometimes dismissed as simply part of getting older, but persistent or worsening symptoms deserve proper medical attention.
Uterine fibroids are one possible cause. Fibroids are noncancerous growths that develop in or around the uterus. They can vary greatly in size and number, and some women have no symptoms at all. Others may experience heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding, pelvic pressure, lower abdominal discomfort, frequent urination, constipation, or pain during sex.
Ovarian cysts are different from fibroids. A cyst is a fluid-filled or partly solid structure that develops in or on an ovary. Many ovarian cysts are benign and disappear on their own, particularly before menopause. However, the likelihood that a cyst needs further evaluation depends on factors such as its appearance, size, symptoms, and whether a woman has reached menopause.
A feeling of heaviness or pressure in the pelvis should not automatically be blamed on aging. Fibroids, ovarian cysts, pelvic floor problems, urinary conditions, digestive disorders, and other gynecological conditions can produce similar sensations.
The green drink shown in the image is promoted online as a formula that can “reset” the uterus, eliminate fibroids, shrink cysts, or restore the uterus within a few hours. There is no reliable evidence that a homemade green drink can remove uterine fibroids or ovarian cysts in six hours.
