My husband surprised me by making this beautiful wooden bench for our garden.
When he finished it, he proudly showed it to me and said:
“I think it looks great!”
I wasn’t quite convinced.
I told him honestly that I wasn’t sure I liked the way it looked.
Maybe it’s the shape.
Maybe it’s the different wood tones.
Maybe it’s simply not the style I would have chosen for our garden.
But he absolutely loves it.
And the more I look at it, the more I start noticing how much work must have gone into making it.
The carved legs, curved armrests, detailed backrest, and carefully joined pieces certainly aren’t something you can throw together in an afternoon.
There’s something special about having a piece of furniture made by someone you love.
It might not be everyone’s taste—and that’s perfectly okay.
A handmade piece doesn’t have to look like something from an expensive furniture showroom.
It carries the time, effort, creativity, and personality of the person who made it.
So now I’m curious.
