Help Me Choose My Wedding Dress: 1 or 2?

  • by

I’m so divided between these two dresses, and I honestly need some help choosing.

For a while, I let someone else’s opinion get into my head.

My mom told me that I looked “fat” in both dresses and suggested that I find something that covered my arms.

And I’ll admit it—those comments made me second-guess myself.

I started looking at the dresses differently.

Instead of asking myself “Which one makes me feel beautiful?”, I started wondering whether I was doing something wrong by showing my arms.

But after sharing different options with people in a sewing community and hearing thoughtful feedback from artists whose work I really admire, something finally clicked.

My wedding dress doesn’t need to hide my body.

It needs to make me feel like myself.

Dress #1

The first dress has a beautiful, romantic look.

The halter-style neckline draws attention upward, while the delicate lace bodice creates a soft and elegant effect.

I love the flowing tulle skirt and the scattered lace appliqués.

It feels light, feminine, and dreamy.

There’s something very effortless about it.

Dress #2

The second dress has a completely different personality.

The off-the-shoulder neckline gives it a more classic bridal feeling, while the fitted bodice creates a defined waist before flowing into the skirt.

The lace details continue throughout the dress, and I absolutely love the way the neckline frames the shoulders.

It feels a little more traditional and dramatic than the first one.

What Changed My Mind

The biggest thing I learned through this process is that someone else’s insecurity about my body doesn’t have to become my insecurity.

My arms don’t need to be hidden for me to be beautiful.

My body doesn’t need to look a certain way for me to deserve a wedding dress I love.

And I don’t want to look back at my wedding photographs years from now and remember that I spent the entire day worrying about whether I looked “thin enough.”

I want to remember being happy.

I want to remember walking toward the person I love.

I want to remember feeling confident.

So Now I’m Choosing Based on One Question
