They Told Me My Babies Weren’t Beautiful — Then I Looked at Them Again

Step 1: The Three Babies Who Changed My Life

The day I became a mother to three babies, I thought my heart couldn’t possibly hold any more love.

Then I looked at them.

Three tiny faces.

Three little personalities.

Three completely different expressions.

One was wide awake and smiling.

Another was peacefully asleep.

The third looked directly at me with the sweetest little grin.

I remember holding them and thinking:

“How could anything in this world be more beautiful?”

I didn’t need anyone else to answer that question.

I already knew.

Step 2: Then the Comments Started

People would make little comments.

Some were careless.

Some were cruel.

Some were disguised as jokes.

But eventually, the words became impossible to ignore.

“Your babies aren’t that beautiful.”

“Why do people keep saying they’re cute?”

“Maybe you just think they’re beautiful because you’re their mother.”

One comment stayed with me longer than the others:

“Maybe it’s just you.”

I laughed it off at the time.

But later that night, when the babies were sleeping, I found myself staring at their photographs.

And for the first time, I wondered:

Is something wrong with me?
