Step 1: A Birthday That Should Have Felt Different
Today, he turned 14.
Fourteen years old.
An age when most teenagers are surrounded by parents, siblings, friends, and family members singing “Happy Birthday.”
But this birthday was different.
There was no mother sitting beside him.
No father standing behind the camera.
No parents waiting to hear him make a wish.
Instead, he sat quietly in a warm room with a birthday cake in front of him.
And in his hands, he held a simple handwritten sign.
It said:
“Today I turn 14. I don’t have parents, so thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday.”
Those words were heartbreaking.
But they also revealed something beautiful.
He wasn’t completely alone.
Step 2: Growing Up Without the People He Needed Most
Growing up without parents can leave an emptiness that is difficult to explain.
There are questions that don’t have easy answers.
Who do you call when you’re scared?
Who do you run to after a bad day?
Who tells you they’re proud of you?
Who sits beside you when you’re sick?
And who do you look for when everyone else is celebrating Mother’s Day or Father’s Day?

He had to become strong earlier than he should have.
